An Evening with Dimitry Chatrov
World-class photography on a world-class projection system
Join us for a rare opportunity to spend an evening with accomplished climber and master photographer Dimitry Chatrov as he recounts his adventures and shares his photographic expertise.
Dimitry's dramatic photographs will make full use of the state-of-the-art Christie Digital projection system at the Tannery.
About the Presenter
No stranger to exotic locales, Mr. Chatrov has traveled to more than 40 countries and climbed some of the world's most challenging mountains, including Kilimanjaro, Mount Ararat, Mount Elbrus, and Cayambe, the world's highest active volcano. He combines his love of travel and photography to create stunning, powerful images of people and places.
Mr. Chatrov has led expeditions to the Amazon, Tibet, Nepal, and Upper Mustang, the most secluded kingdom of the world. He shoots for all of the big theatre houses in Moscow and has been associated with Leica, acting as official photographer for its sponsored expeditions and having an exhibition at the Leica Gallery in Frankfurt.
He has been the face of Epson Printers in Russia and chaired the jury of the Annual All-Russian “Epson” Nature Photography Competition in 2010. He has also been an official photographer for Livejournal and Adobe, among others; his LiveJournal blog has over 15,000 subscibers and 90,000 active monthly readers and is recognized as a major blogger in active European travel photography.
Mr. Chatrov is also the founder of “Photoplanet” Club and holds memberships in the Photo-Artists Union of Russia and the Caucasian Mountain Society. A Canadian and a founding member of Foto:RE, Dimitry is based out of Toronto (but is rarely there!).
